• UG Admission: Students must have passed intermediate or equivalent from a CBSE/NIOS and more. 
• PG Admission: Candidates must have held a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks. 
• PhD admission: Students should have a master’s degree with a 55% mark, and reserved category are required 50% mark.

HPU Admission 2026: Important Dates

HPU Entrance 2026

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, conducts entrance exams for admission to many professional programs. Admissions to programs such as MBA, MCA, LLB, B.Ed, BBA, M.Ed, and several other PG/Professional programs are typically granted through the HPU Entrance Exam. This exam is conducted in offline mode (pen-paper mode). To apply, students must fill out the online application form available on the official HPU website.

 Himachal Pradesh University UG program registration link will soon open for the 2026-27 session. Admission offers a variety of programs such as BA, BTech, BBA, BCom, BSc and etc. Admission to the programs will be based on the merit list, and for programs like Baba, Basa and Bach, there will be an entrance exam. For admission, students are required to fill up the HPU Online Pre-Admission Form. 30 June 2026 is the last date for HPU Admission 2026 for the various Undergraduate programs. 

Eligibility for HPU UG Admission

• Candidates must have passed 10+1+1 (Intermediate) class or equivalent from a recognised board
• General candidates are required to have a minimum of 45% marks, and 40% marks are required for the reserved category. 
• BEd: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks. 
• Bachelor’s of Technology admission: Students should have passed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, & Math with a minimum of 60% marks 

UG Courses & Fees Structure 

HPU Admission 2026: BCA

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, offers a Bachelor’s of Computer Application program in regular mode. It is a three to four-year regular program divided into six to eight semesters. The admission is based on the merit list for the last exam score. For admission, students must pass the 12th class in Mathematics/Computer Science with a minimum of 45% marks. This program covers various subjects such as  Programming Languages, Data Structures & Algorithms, Database Management Systems, Operating Systems and more. 

HPU B.Ed Admission 2026

B.Ed is one of the most sought-after subjects in HPU, which helps in getting entry into a profession like teaching. It is a two-year program, which is divided into 4 semesters. The HPU admission is based on the entrance exam at BEd, which is conducted in the mid-week of April 2026. Only 100 seats are available for B.Ed. at HPU. To be eligible for BEd admission, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in any field from a UGC approved university with a minimum of 50% marks.

HPU PG Admission 2026

HPU Shimla PG admission process will start soon for the 2026-27 academic session. The admission is based on the entrance exam and merit list, but the student must first fulfil the basic eligibility criteria of the university. Admission offers a wide range of regular Postgraduate degree programs such as MA, MBA, MSc, MCom, MCA, MTTM, etc, under the various departments of studies. The program fee range is between INR 7200 to 1.4 Lakh a year.  The HPU admission 2026 last date will be 30 June 2026 for the postgraduate degree programs. 

Eligibility for HPU Shimla PG Admission

As we know, to get admission in the PG professional program, it is necessary to clear the entrance exam, but first, one has to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria set by the university.

• Candidates must have held a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% mark required for the general candidates. 
• 40 to 45% marks are required for the Reserved category students, such as ST/SC/OBS/PwD/BA and more. 
• MTech: Required a BE/BTech degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 60% marks.

Himachal Pradesh University has 120 seats available for the MBA program. The admission offers a variety of specialisations such as Rural Development, Finance, Human Resource Management and more. Admission is based on the HPU-MAT, group discussion, and personal interview. Students must first meet the basic eligibility criteria. Students must have a bachelor’s degree in any subject with a minimum of 50% marks. The application fee is INR 1100 for general category students and INR 550 for reserved category students.

Himachal Pradesh University is a leading university in Himachal Pradesh that offers admission to many programs, one of which is the Master of Arts (MA). This program falls under the School of Humanities and includes courses in subjects such as English, Hindi, History, Political Science, and Economics. To gain admission to this program, students must clear a short entrance exam. Prior to this, students must hold a bachelor’s degree in any field. The program fee can range from INR 7,200 to INR 25,940.

HPU Admission 2026: PhD

The PhD program comes under the Himachal Pradesh University Business School. HPU PhD admission is based on the entrance exam, interview, counselling and written exam. Admission offers various PhD Disciplines such as Humanities, Sciences, Commerce, Law, Management and more. The PhD admission fee is Rs 5000 for HPU students and Rs 10000 for other students. The application form was commenced on 11 December 2025, and the last date was 30 December 2025. An entrance exam will be conducted on 15 April 2026.

• Students should have a Post-Graduation in a relevant stream with a minimum of 55% marks from a UGC recognized university/institute. 
• Students who have passed exams like UGC-NET/JRF/SLET/GATE will be exempted from the HPU PhD entrance exam.
